It's very quiet here all of a sudden.
David I looked and looked for photo's of a Brabham BT-17, all I found was a postage stamp sized one on "REVS".
O.K. so nobody is building a sports car at the moment?
So how about seeing some great builds from the past....
Hello, anybody?

Hi Chris
Thanks for looking for BT17 photographs.
I'm hoping to start carving the Brabham in late October (once the weather deteriorates and I can't be working on a couple of projects in the garden) and maybe a Maserati Tipo 65. I've also got couple of GTM Chaparral kits to build. I'll post about all of them eventually!
Best Regards
David

I'm building a Munter C-Type for Alexis' IPS (as discussed on FB). Thrilled with the quality of the cast. Slowly acquainting myself with building again, although previous serious building was of 1/35th AFVs ( mainly Tamiya and Alitari) and kit bashing 1/72 AFVs. Seems odd trying to get everything gloss, instead of Matt.
Going to be looking for pictures of C-types to see how the rear lights looked, how the fly screens fit, how the tonneau cover was attached and were did the big cat spray her oil mists. Should be a fun exercise.

David You could have saved a bit of time with one of my BT 8,S then just modify the rear body work. It is a hard beast to find . I have a side view but a rear end shot is proving hard to find. I am still looking for rear end shots of the Chevron B12 run by John Woolfe.

Hi David I might just do that (although I have started the carving of the B17) but I've got too many other projects on the go at the moment (all F1s - see the sister Forum). I've found a couple of things that might help you with the rear of the Chevron B12, apologies if you have them already. GMC, a French company, produce the Chevron B12 Repco www.gmc-slotcars.com/chevron.php. Whilst the images of the model on this page don't help much there is a document referenced on the page which has other shots of the model including one of the rear end. I've added an attachment to this post - hope it works! DECORATION-CHEVRON-B12-2.doc (531.50 KB) Best Regards David

David Thanks for the links and the photo,s on the Chevron B12 a fearsome beast and what a mad cap idea to chuck the Repco into the back of a B6/8? Those were the days. I have looked for phoyo,s of the B17 but only found side views.

David these were all I could find so far not easy to find all the info straight off. I will keep looking as a photo of the rear must exist somewhere. David .

Hi David
Thank you for these; most of them I have but not the one of the start of the Oulton Park race (where did you find it?). Its very useful as it gives a very good impression of the front of the car. There is a very poor shot of the rear of the car that I have but its so bad no detail whatsoever shows up other than the general shape!
Best Regards
David

Best Regards David David Found it on the net can,t remember where though. The B17 is Identicle to Bt8 that I have already done [AA BODIES] at the front it is only different starting from the body work after the cockpit where the body work differs especially on the sides. The only other thing it had larger wheels and brakes compared to the Bt8 can,t find out if the wheel base differed. David[ aabodies]

Thanks again David. I've had a search and it was a new picture that appeared in an obituary about John Coundley which appeared recently in the Daily Telegraph. Coundley is in the McLaren Elva (26) in between Jack's Brabham and Denny Hulme's Lola T70 (which won if I remember correctly - I was there at the time).
Best Regards
David

Hi David Good try, could be, but the roll-over bar is wrong and the injection trumpets don't look like the Repco ones. I don't think the BT17 had ducts behind the rear wheels either. The photo looks like it was taken at the 1965 Guards Trophy at Brands Hatch a year before the BT17 was constructed, (the number on the first car, Ferrari 365 P2 tallies with the entry list), and, if so, it could be Roger Nathan's Brabham BT8 Oldsmobile - see this link www.racingsportscars.com/photo/1965/Brands_Hatch-1965-08-30-023.jpg. Best Regards David
