I built this slot car about seven or eight years ago for a retro meeting at Wolverhampton.
The resin shell is a resin recast of a 1960s vacform by Joel Thura and the decals are from Pattos.
For fun I built the chassis offset to enable a full length driver figure would fit in the cockpit.
The wheels and inserts are from BWA.
The chassis was a flexi with rattle pan, the tyres are Ortmanns. I gave it to a friend to race and it was very quick around the Wolves track, you know when you've built a quick car because people like Dick Smith make a point of coming over to look at the chassis in the paddock area of the meeting.

Hi David,
What a fantastic solution to that age old problem of how to install a full length driver.

That really is quite a lovely car. The unique body and the offset chassis make it something special. Do you still run it?

I've raced the car at a couple of Wolverhampton Open events and it sometimes has a run at the local club, it may well be having an outing on the 3rd of October at a small invitation event at a new track.
