I think I went through a similar slot car 'growing up' to you Chris although i started with one of the early Scalextric sets then got a couple of VIP cars eventually onto the Monogram kits. I remember the chassis they had and at one point one of them ended up in a Classic glass fibre Ferrari P4 shell - it wasn't very good and certainly didn't have the beautifully executed modifications of your car. I really like the Lola GT and its on my to do list one day when I can find a shell at a reasonable price.
