This is a modified George Turner Lotus 23C kit. In 1965 George Follmer won the USRRC championship in 1965 in a Porsche 904 engined Lotus 23. When George Tuner announced his 'line' of Lotus 23s I started to research which to build. As result I decided on the Follmer car, because its unusual, and the Ian Walker Racing 23B driven by Graham Hill in North America in 1963. I haven't quite finished the latter yet - waiting for decals from GTM.
The GTM Lotus 23C is a very good moulding, as one would expect, but required some modifications - mainly for the Porsche engine but also for one or two other detail differences around the nose, for air intakes on the sills and for the exhausts. I've used the resin angle winder chassis from the kit, a 20k rpm SRP motor, Pendle wheels at the front with Ortman urethanes from RS Slot Racing and CB Design wheels on the rear with Paul Gage Urethanes. The decals are mainly from Kevin Oz who made them specially for me - I can throughly recommend his service kevinoz-decals.com .
I have to admit I wasn't expecting much performance wise partly because of its small size and short wheelbase but how wrong could I be. It handles very well, is stable and fast without any added weight or tweaking of the chassis.
I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story.
