1958 Aston Martin DBR1
The DBR1 is one of those iconic sports cars that I think nailed all the ingredients of the ultimate sports car. When George Turner Models came out with their DBR1 it totally made my day and I ordered one immediately. I was not disappointed. George absolutely nailed it - the detail (as usual) is exceptional, all the holes were in place (nothing for us to do), the small casting detail is amazing (look at the headlight surrounds with tiny mounting points etc) - all in all I can't say enough about this model and I highly recommend this to any builder out there who is wondering what to build next!
Again I resorted to a simple wood chassis with motor on the side so a full driver figure can be inserted. What I found really amazing with the GTM model is that the "stance" of the car was so good - looking at some photos of the DBR1 looks like it's glued to the ground with very little space between wheels and wheel arches. The GTM DBR1 model is very light and there is decent space in the wheel wells. I hope I have captured the low "stance" in my build.
The car runs well and for now all four wheels touch the ground (!) but I would prefer to have a rotation of some sort built into the front assembly and I will rebuild this entirely at some stage along with a pendulum driver. I tend to make promises of what I will do "one day" and these turn out to be very long time periods so thought I should post this now also with the intention and hope of getting some other members fired up and showing us what they have been building. I'm sure there are lots of neat models out there waiting for us to see.
I have tried to get the "stance" of the DBR1 nice and low as seen in photo above.
The detail on the George Turner Model DBR1 is superb.
All the lights are in place - nothing to add!
I hope this thread is of interest to the readers, thanks for looking.
Regards
Richard
