I just started the build of the Mc Laren M1B for the upcoming CanAm proxy race. In the first step I'm working with a piece of PU foam and some putty to generate rough the outer shape of the body. Sometimes it is critical to get the 3D shape correct and find the correct proportions so I decided to acquire a 1:43 resin shell of Marsh Model which is on the photos as well. This will be kind of benchmark for the 1:32 model.
Still some work left... Best regards, Thomas

A very interesting technique Thomas. I'm looking forward to seeing the McLaren develop. What sort of putty are you using, please?
Best Regards
David

Hello David, i always use a fine standard two component putty which is used normaly for 1:1 cars. Quick hardening within minutes and without visible shinkage. The only downside is the intensive smell of the polyester resin. Best regards, Thomas

You might be able to get a sidewinder in there? I did so with the GTM McLaren M1A. The rims are 9mm. Click on the picture to enlarge it. The body is 56mm wide at the rear arches. Peter.

This M1A is pretty nice . The body of the M1A will be plus minus around 54mm. I'm thinking about a anglewinder configuration. This should work. Sidewinder will be an option., Best regards Thomas

Today I received a body of Resilien Resins. Really impressive and in principle no reason to build this shell by myself. But mine is nearly finshed as well. :-) So I will go ahead with ym personal one. Best regards, Thomas

Hi Thomas
The Resilient Resins M1B does look good but no better than yous - in fact I prefer your version. By the way where did you get the Resilient Resins one? I thought they ceased business some years ago.
Best Regards
David

David, Thank you for the kind words. I'm feeling better already. :-) I found and bought the RR body on the wellknown internet auction platform in UK. Wasn't too expensive. I learned from the German Scratchbuildforum today that the RR body is based on an Aurora body. Best regards, Thomas
