Hi Guys and Gal, I have an issue with some of my cars paint finish. Some weeks after applying my Humbrol clear the paint looks cracked like an egg shell. This has occurred on builds using Halfords & Tamiya paints. I have I used Halford plastic grey primer on all of my builds. You have to look closely to see this damage, but quite frankly its getting me down as I go to great lengths to get the finish good. I initially thought it maybe because my cars were stored in the garage (temperature changes), so I moved all of my cars in doors. But with my recent Porsche build it's happened again. I'm starting to think it maybe the resin/plastic as my GP Miniatures cars have not succumbed to this effect. I used Halfords and Tamiya on these cars. I allow 3 days for the top coat to dry prior to applying decals and then a further 3 days prior to clear coating. John, what do you use to prime, top coat and seal? Can you use fine cutting compounds on clear coat to renew the lustre? Thanks for any advice you can give. BR. Brian

Hi Brian. I use a basic automotive grey primer and Tamiya top and clear coats. I am not familiar with Halfords. I can only suggest the clear is the problem with some mismatch between the Tamiya and Halfords.

Cheers John, I'll try Halfords normal primer on my next build. It's as if the clear shrinks. BR. Brian
