I thought I'd post something new on here but it's by no means new to me as I started this over 2 years ago but then lost interest in it until recently when I made myself crack on with it.
It is based on the Peter Brock BRE cars which raced in the SCCA meetings but is not a strict replica but isn't too far off. More info on the cars can be found here In fact until tonight I'd only been using the image search on google so didn't realise that the rear panel of the car is red! I think I'll leave it white to be honest as I'm not sure the red looks that great on the back but I can always add it at a later date.
It started as a Arii model kit of a standard road car but I've made a few mods to the body including opening some vents on the front panel, sanding off the badges on the sides. I've also made an air dam for the front and fabricated an interior both from plasticard.
The windscreen on the BRE cars is a bit of a problem for me, I'm not sure how to replicate it?
I like to use as few decals as possible as I don't lacquer my cars. Therefore the red and blue parts were sprayed after the initial coats of white. The masking was a little tricky as the red follows from the bonnet and I had to incorporate that into one mask.
I've used a Penelope Pitlane clubman chassis which is similar to lots of my other SCCA cars. On a side note all of my SCCA cars have motors in keeping with the real car. For example my little Sprites use BWA motors which I think are rated at about 14k whereas something like an MGB uses an 18k motors and my Sunbeam Tiger uses a 21k motor. This car uses a 20k motor.
I'm debating putting the car onto scale 13" wheels, currently sits on 15". I think the real cars ran on 13". I'm also undecided on inserts which may sway my decision on wheel size, suggestions welcome.
This is the car so far, not far off.
Thanks,
Pete
