Privately entered whilst still a student at Zürich University at the Nürburgring 1000Kms in 1956. He qualified 4th outpacing the Porsche works cars, who promptly complained on safety grounds and had him DQ´d. The inverted wing was to improve braking, not an experiment in down-force and far superior to the fated experiments a few years earlier by Mercedes. The car still exists today albeit totally over restored, it now sports an orange wing although I am almost certain that it was not so originally. This is a totally original Scalextric C61 (wing aside of course). The detailing on these early Scalextric cars is superb and I frequently remodel them. I hand painted this using a brush and a bottle of Chrome paste from Chris at PSK. I read that Michael stripped the car back to bare metal so this replicates that well I feel.

Fabulous re-work of a beautiful Scalextric model (which has been on my wish list for a while now).
