Ever since Graham Poulton went through the exersize of meticulously converting a 50's Scalextric Aston body, into a realistic replica of the real thing (even though it was a tad to big) I've wanted one. I helped Graham put together his original web site, and as a thankyou for helping him he sent me one of his original slosh mouldings of the car. I'm going to build it up as one of these: I have absolutely no idea how to get the correct colour paint, and I wish Peter still had some appropriate wheels, but I'll muddle through somehow. Every DBR-1 was slightly different. So I had to make a decision, and settled on DBR-1/300 # 5. 900 BH at the 1959 Nürburgring 1000 km with Graham Whitehead and Brian Naylor. Aston Martin DBR-1 300 #5 Driven by Graham Whitehead at Eläintarhanajo Aston Martin DBR-1 300 #5 as it is today.

Progress so far; Bearing in mind that this was one of Grahams original slosh moulded shells. Originally the sides were 1/4 of an inch thick, and all the openings were solid resin. After 3 days of grinding and sanding, in my 90 degree work room (garage), with a dust mask on (COPD) it's down to a decent thickness and weight. Wheels, are some of my last BWA's with BWA inserts. The inserts will be spaced out, so that they don't have that deap dish boy racer look. They're not Peter's excellent wheels, and they wont be shiny chrome.
