I infrequently visit FB and can never seem to find past conversations I want on that stream of consciousness format. I think the hierarchical folders structure of a forum is much simpler to navigate and re-navigate. I will see what I have from the above eligibility list and measure them. I assume the key parameter right now is maximum width over the rear fenders? Stewart That makes sense, since the salient point is the width of the chassis and wheel setup.

I'm looking for corroborating information, but according to this graphic, the T-70spyder @ 1/32 should be 53.975mm (call it 54mm) wide. The revell and Proto slot are way wide. I'm beginning to see what Phil means.

Hi Marc,
I found these measurments for a Lola T-70
Track, front, 57" with 8" rims Track, front, 54" with 10.5" rims
Track, rear, 57.5" with 10" rims Track, rear, 54" with 14" or 17" rims
This track sizing is not going to be as easy as the F-1's. We should be able to find track and wheelbase dimentions for a lot of these cars, Actually the contestant should provide them along with scource.
The trick is going to be tyre width, that should be scale as well, if this is achieved a car with an over-width body will look stupid, and therefore excused from the tounament.
As this series is supposed to be scratch built a competent modeller should be able to channel an over-width car down to the correct dimensions.
I have a Sloter version of the T-70, I need to go and measure it, I think it's much closer to scale.

Hi Marc
You can count me in if this goes ahead. Pity it won't allow Can-Am type cars which raced in the UK as I'm still working on carving a Brabham BT17 (it raced only twice in the UK). I better have go at something else! Personally I think it will get very complicated and contentious if precise track measurements are insisted upon and may put off potential entrants; I'd go for a maximum width of the body rule.
Will the cars have to have authentic liveries?
Best Regards
David

With our club 55mm Can Am class we allow SLIGHTLY over width cars to run but limit the width across the rear tyres to 55mm. We found that there were so many over width bodies and so few true scale cars.

The IPS Proxy did the same thing some years back (and maybe still does?). The last time I entered (2012) the maximum body width was set at 57mm but the maximum track width between the outer tire shoulders was only 55mm.

I'm starting a rough draft of some rules, referring to the VRAA and others. This discussion is very helpful, thanks, all. Where I am totaly at sea is how to scare up hosting venues. I would love to be present for one, so I plan to go hat-in-hand to the Austin Slot Car club to see if they would be interested in hosting an event on their beautiful track. Anyone have any connections there?

I don't know the Austin club, but if you would like any contacts for track hosts who participated in recent VRAA Proxy seasons or in the 1967 GP of Canada Proxy send me a message and I'll be happy to share.

Constructor's Trophy
Maybe it's quixotic on my part, but I really want to encourage the scratchbuilding of body shells. The Constructor's trophy will only be open to enries with new body shells crated by (or for) contestants. This, I hope, will be the most prize heavy award, even exceeding 1st place in race standings. Including a $150 Immense Miniatures store credit.
