Hello members,
I’m happy to present you my last build pre-war.
Three sports cars were specially built to run the 1922 Tourist Trophy of Isle of Man. The power of the 3-litre (4 cylinder) production engine was increased for the race.
N°3, license ME1884, chassis TT42 (wheel-base ?), engine 62.
N°6, license ME3494, chassis TT74 (wheel-base ?), engine 107.
N°9, license ME3115, chassis TT72 (wheel-base ?), engine 40.
Three coachbuilders were tasked to build the same bodywork according to the shape of that built by Ewart & Sons ont the chassis n°5 of the engine n°1.
Picture of the Ewart & Sons’s Bentley from « Coachbuild Forum »
Results of the « Team » :
Driver F. Clement, méchanics (name?) n°3, 2th place.
Driver W. O. Bentley and L. Pennel méchanics n°9, 4th place.
Driver W. D. Hawkes, méchanics (?) n°6, 5th place.
J. Chassagne and R. Laly are the winners in driving the Sunbeam race.
The Slot Car
N°3 is build to the feeling according to the photos of the era and therefore the dimensional result is only approximate.
The wheel-base chosen is the 117.5 inches.
The structure is made of wood and the body in light alloy of 0.5mm. The various accessories are build from light alloy, brass, steel, wood and fabric.
Not knowing the real color of the chassis, I painted it black (paints: primer, white, black, satin varnish of Tamyia).
The mass is 120grams.
Album of garage (2016/17)
Feasability
Support closure body
Accessories and mechanical
Wheels set PP (modified front-wheel)
Guide Shadowfax
Engine SRP
Pinion Slot-it (9)
Crown Cartrix (27)
Gentlemen LMM (modified mechanics)
Body before painting (37grams)
Protection light alloy 0.1mm
I‘m at your disposal
Regards
Jean-Pierre
